Rocky Horror Picture Show

Let's do the Time Warp Again

The Rocky Horror Show opens to sold out crowd.

Thursday October 17th, nervous energy thrummed backstage like electricity as actors donned their costumes, makeup, and a fair amount of glitter. The excitement was only escalated when Producer Steven Cole Hughes announced that they would be performing to a full house. With a theater packed to the brim of eager audience members, the cast began to enact the strange, eerie, and hilarious tale that is The Rocky Horror Show. The Rocky Horror Show, directed by Steven Burge, tells the story of how Brad and Janet, a newly engaged couple, get wrapped up in complete chaos after seeking help when they experience a tire blow out. With a jump to the left and a step to the right, they find their way over to the Frankenstein place, a gloomy looking castle shrouded with mystery. In a matter of moments Brad and Janet’s quest to reach a phone is sidetracked with the appearance of the enigmatic and alluring Dr. Frank-N-Furter and her minions (who Burge lovingly nicknamed “the trio of terror” and “army of odd”). The couple is then informed that they have arrived on a special night and are to witness an astounding feat of science; it seems the doctor has created a living creature. Tensions rise when the creature, aka the titular Rocky Horror, comes to life and it’s clear that Brad and Janet’s relationship is not as strong as it was before the night began. Many are familiar with the film adaptation known as The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Tim Curry, which quickly gained a large cult following after premiering in 1975. That following remains prominent over four decades later with cinemas holding midnight screenings where audience members dress up, dance along, and yell callbacks in response to certain lines. Those attending this production were encouraged to wear costumes and respond to specific lines. The Rocky Horror Show is a riotous production unlike any other, full of fun and chaotic dance numbers, rock and roll, dirty humor and plenty of scantily clad actors.
